Contrary to any alphabet in the world, Tamil alphabet means the name of the places of articulation. (Pirappiyal). In day to day usage, Tamil uses the largest number of phonemes (sounds) for any language. (Example, Th as in Thamiz, Th as in anTha, Th as in aThan.)

One need to understan the scientific definition of Alphabet given in Tamil and contrast it with the random known sounds as Alphabet, say Sanskrit Alphabet.

Your research should bear this in mind, before trying to interpret and explain Tholkarpiyam.
